What is Ultherapy?
Ultherapy is the only FDA-approved aesthetic procedure that can be used to non-invasively lift, tighten, and tone the face, neck, chin and décolletage. It uses the gentle but effective power of ultrasound energy to stimulate the body’s own natural process of healing. Ultrasound has been used in the medical field for over 50 years and has proven to be safe and effective for patients. While Ultherapy doesn’t produce results that are as dramatic as those achieved through an invasive procedure, it can bring subtle, beautiful changes to your appearance without downtime.
How Does it Work?
Ultherapy uses ultrasound energy to stimulate skin rejuvenation. During an Ultherapy treatment, ultrasound energy is aimed at the target area. It passes easily through the upper layers of the skin, leaving them unaffected and unharmed. Once this energy reaches the deeper layers of the skin, it begins to heat the tissue there. This causes collagen and elastin, two structural proteins within the skin responsible for its overall appearance and elasticity, to coagulate. This initiates the body’s healing response and stimulates the creation of stronger, newer collagen and elastin, significantly healing, lifting, and rejuvenating the skin significantly.
What can I Expect from an Ultherapy Treatment?
Unlike many other noninvasive procedures that require periodic treatment sessions, significant changes can be obtained through a single Ultherapy treatment. While the amount of time that each treatment takes depends on the area being targeted, most can be treated in 30-90 minutes. The majority of patients report that the only sensation they feel during treatment is tiny electrical pricks that are only mildly uncomfortable. No downtime is experienced after treatment is completed. The results of Ultherapy become gradually more visible over a 2-3 month period, with continued improvement lasting through six months.
